The 4-hour CPR/AED and First Aid class is jam packed with information. The program is designed to help students gain confidence with the identification and treatment of a Stroke, Heart Attack and Cardiac Arrest Naloxone administration and choking. You will leave intimately familiar with the current science of cardiac resuscitation, and how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). We use only the best training mannequins with feedback sensors and a variety of. AED’s. Our manikins have CPR feedback devices. We utilize numerous live and trainer AED’s for our programs. Students learn to respond to emergencies for infants, children and adults.
This class is designed for situations when help is less than 10-minutes away. However, we introduce students to some of the delayed care concerns that may arise. The First Aid program delves into patient assessment for medical scenarios, severe bleeding, fractures, impaled objects, burns, seizures, allergic reactions, emotional considerations, concussions, altered mental status, muscular skeletal injuries and much more.
What do you do while you are waiting for help? What questions should I ask? Should I call 911? Can I use an AED on a pregnant patient, or one with a pacemaker? Can I accidently shock some who doesn’t need it? Will I break ribs during CPR? Do we still breathe for patients or are we only doing compression only? Am I a “Good Samaritan”? Is it safe to use Naloxone on an opiate overdose? Can I assist with an Epi-pen? What should be in my first aid kit at work? Do we have to have an AED? Does my AED work? How do I help an infant that is choking? Should I use a tourniquet? Do we still clean wounds with Hydrogen Peroxide? How do I treat a burn? These are the questions we ponder in the basic CPR class! We hope you are excited to learn!
